My Journey

Updated 22.09.2021

Hi,my name is Marko Fuček.

I consider myself to be a designer and engineer, a designieer. I love the creative aspect of creating something new but also thinking about how to make something.

Over the years, I did jobs as a graphic designer, web designer, product designer, packaging engineer, set designer and 3D artist making visualizations. I worked on startups. I also worked for hobbyists and big companies. My work ranged from pavilion design and production, exhibition sets design, graphics design, web design, 3d visualization to product design and research. More or less, they were all similar things to me, problems to understand and then solve.

I am a small business owner, freelancing for over five years now.

During my college days, I was a member of e-Student, a student association organized as a simulated company (but no profits). There were different teams and departments. I worked there on projects in the visual field (TEDX Unizg).

About that same time, I also started volunteering in Model pack, a cardboard and packaging factory. There I learned my first CAD software and did a lot of projects regarding engineering with cardboard.

Later, during college, I also participated in two startups. In both, I worked as a UI and UX designer. One was an online service for finding apartments & the other was about playing esports for real $.

After college, I was a design intern in a small creative agency for a year. BTL marketing was the field of work. Projects were all fun and novel but a the same time always digital on my side. I needed to do things by hand. So I decided to go on my own.

Going on my own was a strange decision, maybe a bit rushed. One for which I was unprepared. I made a ton of mistakes but also learned a lot through them and grew professionally.

First, I started working as a set designer. I produced and designed sets. That led me to work on the Nikola Tesla exhibition.

I also helped and later worked full-time on an e-bike project. I did the brand design, web design and the bike concept itself. Had to learn how to surface something, how kinematics work, how battery’s work and how to construct them.

Lately, I have been working as a graphic and web designer for an AI-powered startup - Ascalia.io. They improve the efficiency and productivity of factories by implementing machine learning solutions.

I prefer challenging and long projects more than short and easy ones.

Even before the bike adventure, I was a cycler. Though I am an introvert (INTJ), I am also a decent guitar player and enjoy jamming sessions. Playing music with another human being is a spiritual connection where you must be emotionally and logically synced for the jam to work. I could jam all day long.

I was born and raised in Vinkovci, lived in Zagreb for over 11 years, and I am now back in my hometown in Slavonija with my family, Mrs Fuček and our two daughters.

I can talk with you about set design, cardboard, Ai or e-bikes or something else. Feel free to say hi or call me.

Thank you for you time,

M
